Carla Maria Oliveira Diogo, MD, EBOPRAS, is Head of the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Burns Surgery at Coimbra Local Health Unit (ULS Coimbra), Portugal. She is a Senior Consultant in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, certified by the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS), and holds a Master Degree in Reconstructive Microsurgery from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She also holds the Portuguese Medical Association Competencies in Clinical Coding and Healthcare Management, complemented by postgraduate training in Health Services Management and the AESE Advanced Management Program for Healthcare Institutions (PADIS).

Her clinical practice is focused on reconstructive microsurgery, breast reconstruction, sarcoma reconstruction, facial palsy surgery and gender-affirming surgery. She coordinates the Genitourinary and Sexual Reconstruction Unit (URGUS) and has been instrumental in the development of microsurgical reconstructive techniques at ULS Coimbra. She is an invited speaker at national and international scientific meetings, author of numerous peer-reviewed publications, member of the Board of the Portuguese Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, and of the Portuguese Medical Association Board of Plastic Surgery
