Roy de Vita, MD, is an Italian plastic surgeon and, since 2002, Chief of the Plastic Surgery Department at the National Cancer Institute “Regina Elena” in Rome, where he has also coordinated the Breast Unit since 2011. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Naples “Federico II” (110/110 cum laude, 1981) and completed his Board in Plastic Surgery there in 1986 (70/70 cum laude), with training periods at Queen Victoria Hospital (UK), Emory University, El Camino Hospital (USA) and Clinique Spontini (France). He served as interim Chief of Plastic Regenerative Surgery at the San Gallicano Institute (2015–2018) and as Clinical and Scientific Director of “Palazzo Baleani”, Sapienza University (2022–2024). Since 2019 he has been an expert member of the Italian Higher Health Council’s permanent technical committee on BIA-ALCL. He teaches plastic surgery at the Sapienza Postgraduate Medical School (since 2006) and in the Master’s in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery at the University of Genoa (since 2012). His clinical and research focus is oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery — nipple-sparing mastectomy, prepectoral direct-to-implant reconstruction (BRAND4P method), fat grafting and BIA-ALCL. He is the author of numerous international peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, editor of a Springer volume on revision breast augmentation surgery, organizer of the International Breast Surgery Symposium in Rome and of annual international live surgery courses, and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
